Lovespelledbackwards has been on a hiatus for an extremely long time, so when the opportunity presented itself to interview the up and coming talent, it was somewhat of a shock. Boasting a range of songs in a variety of genres, he is one of the most versitile acts working in the scene right now. In a rare one on one discussion, he tells us all we need to know about his current state — a state that was recently shrouded in mystery.

What can you tell us about your upcoming projects and how they will sound?

My next projects are gonna be a bit different, a little more Rap/Hip-Hop sounding while still sounding like me. I’m really excited for this year musically, I think I’m gonna put out some of my best work, and I’m stoked for my fans to hear my new stuff.

What has your experience been like thus far in Burnout?

It’s been a great experience, Seejayxo is one of my best friends and that’s kinda how Burnout started at first. Just a close group of friends making music together. Burnout has evolved a lot since then and it’s really dope to see. I think I’ve been in 5 collectives overall, 3 of them kinda fell apart, now I’m just in two: Burnout and Biteki. It’s awesome being in these collectives because some of us – me included – are in both. So they kind of cross over in a way, and I’ve met a lot of cool people from each whom some are my really good friends now. Basically, those 2 collectives are different from the other ones due to communication & everyone is friends with each other or friendly. Biteki and Burnout are definitely two collectives you wanna watch out for this year, we have big things on the way.

Who are your biggest inspirations within the underground scene?

Nothing, Nowhere, Lil Peep, Shinigami, Lil Lotus, and Guccihighwaters.

After your small hiatus, what can fans expect to see from you in the future?

Growth, I’m thinking. Consistently dropping music; I definitely want to work on a mixtape this year. Since it would be my first real EP, I really wanna put mine all into it.

If you had to make your friends into cartoon characters which ones would they be?

[Laughs] I’m not sure, to be honest. I’m drawing a blank right now.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?

I don’t really like putting a label on music, but if I had too, I probably just call it Alternative music.

Any collaborations you want to reveal or talk about?

Yes actually. I have a song coming out soon with Eris, Suckerpunk and Trechor Boy, so be on the lookout for that soon. It’s gonna be a banger.

What would you say to someone who looks up to you if you could say anything to them?

Do what you love, whether you’re good or not, everyone has to start somewhere. People will always have something to say about it, but you’ll get better. I didn’t get good overnight and guarantee most of us artists didn’t either.

Do you have a certain process when you are making music?

I usually start with the beat, then try to make a chorus. Sometimes I’ll do the verse first, it all depends on what sound I’m going for.

What is your life motto and why do you think it is important?

I’m not sure I have one, to be honest. I’ve never really thought about having a life motto. Maybe I’ll think of and stick by one when I’m in a better state of mind.
