Seattle resident Lil Koi is making massive waves with Hinoni all over the West Coast. You won’t wanna miss this UVC exclusive sit down.

Where are you from and how old are you?

I was born in Seattle and have lived here my whole life, I’m 14 years old.

Tell me a little about Seattle and what’s it’s like growing up there for you. 14 is young, so you got a lot of experiences to go.

Growing up in Seattle can be really shitty at times because it feels like we get the same weather every year and nothing changes, but for the most part it’s alright. And yeah it’s crazy to have the opportunities I have at only 14, it’s a dream come true.

Huge shoutout Seattle because it comes out with people like yourself and Hinoni, so it’s definitely a positive movement you guys are pushing. You’re young now, but what were some early influences for you?

As a kid I would always hear my brother Lucas Aka Pvscale making music, he was still in middle school at the time and I was so into the idea of being a rockstar. I just wanted to leave my mark on the world.

You guys are brothers? This was the info the underground needed because that’s fire. I’m super interested in your young mind. What’s your school and social life like?

Yeah we are brothers haha for some reason a lot of people think I’m Yung Shames bro. But school is weird, because it’s gotten to the point of my teachers calling me Koi and asking me about music but that’s cool I guess. And my social life is strange as well. There is a lot of hate about the kind of music i make but i don’t let it get to me, i got my group of friends and nobody else phases me.

Keep it that way my friend and you’ll be golden. I have a lot of faith in you guys. It’s an early goal but who do you aspire to be like? Other than your brother what’s influencing you?

I really wanna be someone like Bladee because he’s crazy, it’s like you never see him but he’s everywhere, and the kind of music he makes really inspires me as a whole. Also I was always a huge fan of Lil Soda Boi, he really inspired my music so now that i get to hangout with him and record with him is crazy.

That’s gotta be such a great influence for you and to be honest I can definitely see you turning into your own version of Soda or Bladee. What’s your music process like? How long does it take you to make a song?

Usually we just sit down in the studio and play some beats until we find one we could work with, then my brain does the rest it’s kind of muscle memory at this point. Usually to write a song it could be 5 minutes and to finish a whole song 30-45.

That’s so fire because that method is gonna get you to where you wanna be. What’s your number one goal in music? I mean just like myself you’ll change everything a million times but why do you like music at the moment?

At the moment my goal is to be able to one day meet fans in person, I don’t care about money or how many fans I have, just love talking to them. That’s the whole reason I do this and the fans are why I love making music.

Imma tell you flat out right now my 22 year old homie told me about this Koi verse with you and Cap. So you definitely accomplishing it if that’s your goal. I like that a lot and I like that you’re super honest. As a youngin what keeps you going outside of music?

Woah that’s crazy that makes me super happy actually. What keeps me going is probably seeing friends, sometimes I get burned out off music and I just need a break because I’m going to high school next year and there is a lot of shit I got to worry about but just hanging with friends or talking with fans keeps me into it.

You kill it bro and UVC got your back through this absolutely. You got more shit to do then your local shit so we’re gonna support whatever. One of my last questions for you was who are your top 5 artists at the moment?

Ooh that’s a good one, I would have to say;

5. Coldhart
4. Lil Soda Boi
3. Thaiboy Digital
2. Ecco2K
1. Bladee

Those are easily some of the reasons why most of us are here. So I’m highly interested on what you do when you aren’t creating? What do you do in your spare time?

In my spare time i’m either on my phone like a normal teen or talking on Discord with fans while playing video games, I also like skating but at the moment the weather is terrible.

I like that answer a lot. Speaking of Seattle, as a teenager growing up what are some things you like and dislike about seattle?

I really like the Seattle community because we all are very accepting about who you want to be because in most parts of the world they can be very biased, but in Seattle you can say whatever or be whoever and not get shut down. Some things I dislike would have to be all the rain and how little things there are to do without spending a lot of money.

Shoutout Seattle for being for the culture. Once you get ahead of yourself money won’t be a thing. Back to music for a second and the last question I had for you was who are your top 5 favorite artists of all time?

That would have to be;

5. Childish Gambino
4. Flatbush Zombies
3. Lil Peep
2. Ecco2k
1. Bladee
